Tips to Create DJ Music

How to make DJ Music with bar intros

The DJ music comprises of beats, phrases and bars, have a better understanding of these is a key. Bars, phrases and the beats are the technical aspects of the DJ music and are closely linked with its structure and counting of bars. A DJ mix is a mix of multiple musical tracks together. Arranging the tracks and making the mix a hit disco song is not an easy task. So, here are some tips about arranging the music.
DJ Tips: 8 bar intro

Bar sections arrangement

There are in general 16 bar sections in which the dance music tunes progresses. Elements present in these sections may consist of 1, 2, 4 or 8 bar repeating phrases and the element is bound to change, i.e., it is altered, removed or added after every 4 or 8 bar intros.

How to arrange a quick arrangement

In order to make a quick and logical laid-out arrangement, the DJ needs to place the main breakdown in the middle at the 129th bar and then each side of this is separated in half again. This makes the first mini break at approximately 65th bar position and the drop at the outro beats may come at approximately 193rd bar position.

Effects to make the music interesting

Build-ups are the main ingredient of the first three quarters along with the intermittent breaks. Dance tracks can be made interesting by increasing the anticipation of what may come next. It can be achieved by using the rising or falling sound FX, reverb effects, automated delays or reverse cymbals.

Uses of instrument in a mix

Another successful way of creating anticipation and building up the interest and enthusiasm is filtering a gamut of mix and elements in a track, for instance, the drums and the synths. The entire bottom ends can be removed by using a high-pass filter (HPF) just before the start of the new section. Similarly, during a breakdown if the DJ opens the low-pass filter, it helps to set the mood of the crowd high even without offering much change in the music.

Creating a breakdown

The best way to make a breakdown work is stripping the track back to the basic. It can be done by removing the drum and bass beats. Hats and shakers should be considered for dropping the high frequency elements. It also helps in creating a better effect of breakdown.
